RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a BAW Consultant for a remote role.
Summary:
We are seeking a remote senior BAW Consultant with deep experience installing and configuring IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) environments end to end. This is not a general administrator or support role. The successful candidate will have completed multiple full BAW installations and will guide client team's step by step through environment setup and troubleshooting in real time.
This role is advisory led, requiring confidence, precision, and hands-on experience across the full BAW and WebSphere stack to avoid trial and error and ensure rapid client progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Environment Installation & Setup:
* Guide the installation of IBM BAW, typically on Linux platforms
* Configure profiles, deployment environments, and clusters
* Stand up and validate Process Server and Process Center environments
Middleware & Platform Configuration:
* Configure and administer IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WAS ND)
* Integrate BAW with enterprise databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
* Configure JMS, LDAP, and security components
Configuration, Tuning & Troubleshooting:
* Define deployment topology (single node vs. clustered)
* Perform JVM and performance tuning
* Rapidly diagnose and resolve installation and configuration issues in real time
Validation:
* Perform smoke testing of environments
* Ensure applications deploy and run cleanly
Role Characteristics:
* Advisory led execution model: -over the shoulder- guidance while the client executes
* Requires clear, step by step direction without hesitation
* No learning on the fly or live research during execution
REQUIREMENTS:
* Proven experience installing IBM BAW or legacy IBM BPM (multiple full installs end to end)
* Strong IBM WebSphere Application Server ND administration experience (non-negotiable)
* Experience configuring enterprise databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
* Linux environment familiarity
* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot installation issues in real time
* Ability to coach and guide client teams during execution
Nice to Have
* Experience with containerized or OpenShift based BAW deployments
* Automation and scripting experience (e.g., wsadmin)
Engagement Context
* Short duration, high impact engagement (~120 hours)
* Client blocking work where speed, accuracy, and experience are critical
* Requires deep expertise to avoid wasted time and rework
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
