Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Release Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of releases across a complex enterprise application landscape. This role ensures business and technology changes are delivered in a controlled, timely, and low-risk manner across integrated platforms and stakeholder groups. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Oracle systems and related enterprise applications such as UKG, Passport, and Vertex, and partners closely with business owners, QA, Compliance, IT product teams, and vendor partners to successfully deliver releases and continuously improve scalable release processes.
Key Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end release lifecycle, including planning, coordinating and communicating with business, IT, and program teams, effectively managing deployments across all environments, and overseeing post-release validation.
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define release scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
Define and maintain the release management framework, enterprise release calendar, policies, controls, and stakeholder communications.
Proactively identify, document, and manage cross-application, data, and infrastructure dependencies, ensuring integration readiness prior to deployment.
Own release intake, prioritization, and sequencing across competing initiatives, balancing business urgency, technical risk, and delivery capacity.
Collaborate with business owners, QA, security, DevOps, platform teams, and support teams to align release activities across integrated systems.
Validate business readiness for releases, including training completion, support preparedness, communications, and operational procedures.
Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders on release roadmaps, upgrade schedules, patches, and hotfixes.
Fully understand the integrations and dependencies between systems and effectively facilitating decisions when conflicts arise and escalating dependency risks early with clear mitigation plans.
Lead release readiness and go/no-go decision meetings, providing risk assessments and deployment recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring stakeholder (business and IT sign-offs are obtained and documented for releases as necessary.
Monitor and report on release readiness, deployment status, incidents, and post-release outcomes.
Coordinate hypercare planning and post-release support models for business-critical deployments, partnering with product teams to ensure post-release issues are analyzed, root causes identified, and corrective actions embedded into future release planning.
Ensure alignment with company standards, SOX requirements, and applicable governance frameworks.
Maintain release documentation, approvals, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.
Drive continuous improvement in release management practices.
Qualifications
Required
7+ years of experience in Release Management or significant project management background with the ability to lead and manage communication, coordination, and execution across business and technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience with Oracle systems and deployments, or comparable SaaS based enterprise platforms; experience supporting high-availability and business-critical systems.
Experience coordinating releases across multiple integrated systems (HRIS, FSM, ERP, etc.).
Experience managing release calendars, dependencies, and blackout windows.
Ability to influence without authority across engineering, product, QA, security, and operations teams.
Understanding of continuous delivery vs. traditional release cycles and when to apply each.
Strong knowledge of Audit, compliance, SOX controls, SDLC, and release governance.
Proven experience working with cross-functional global teams and third-party vendors.
Proven incident and problem management collaboration during and after releases.
Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong documentation discipline (release runbooks, deployment plans, rollback procedures).
Ability to translate technical release impacts into business-relevant terms.
Preferred
Certifications in ITIL, PMP, Oracle, or related disciplines.
Experience with automated testing, deployment tools, and DevOps pipelines.
Exposure to Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with UKG, WFM, Passport, Vertex, and related enterprise ecosystems.
