About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Operations Engineer to provide advanced technical support across critical applications, systems, databases, and infrastructure services. In this role, you will troubleshoot complex issues, support production environments, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance.

This position requires strong technical acumen, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, large-scale environments.
Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide advanced support for complex technical issues across assigned applications, systems, databases, and middleware components.
• Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot, restore service, and resolve data or system disruptions.
• Analyze performance trends and recommend improvements to enhance system stability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot network, hardware, and software issues using established guidelines and best practices.

Systems Maintenance & Operations

• Participate in deployments, upgrades, installations, and configuration activities from development to production environments.
• Support adherence to SLA requirements and identify gaps in existing processes or performance metrics.
• Maintain change and issue logs, ensuring accurate documentation across operational activities.

Data & Documentation

• Write and execute queries to extract and validate data.
• Update or develop technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
• Assist with developing and delivering training materials for supported systems.

Quality, Security & Compliance

• Review system changes for potential risks to production environments.
• Ensure all supported systems meet quality, security, and compliance standards.
• Participate in testing and maintaining the business continuity plan.

Collaboration & Strategic Support

• Consult on complex initiatives that require deep analysis and long-term planning.
• Evaluate and resolve multi-faceted engineering challenges involving novel or unprecedented factors.
• Work closely with client stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, policies, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture, OR equivalent experience through consulting, military service, training, or education.
• Strong working knowledge of:
  • Linux
  • Tomcat
  • Other middleware technologies
• Demonstrated ability in complex problem-solving and technical troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:
  • ServiceNow
  • Splunk
  • Grafana
  • Excel, Power BI
  • Python
• Ability to analyze performance metrics and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
