Description

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to support endpoint operations, cloud administration, and security-focused infrastructure initiatives for client environments in Ada, Michigan. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work across device management, Microsoft cloud platforms, and operational security tools. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to daily support activities, strengthen documentation, and partner with senior engineers on onboarding, monitoring, and remediation efforts.

Responsibilities:
Oversee routine endpoint administration tasks across Windows and macOS devices, including health monitoring, patch deployment, and automation support through remote management platforms.
Provide operational support for directory and identity services by handling account lifecycle changes, group-based access updates, and basic device profile administration.
Assist with mobile and desktop management processes by supporting enrollment activities, reviewing compliance settings, and troubleshooting device configuration issues.
Review security notifications from managed detection tools, document investigative findings, and escalate suspicious activity while helping with containment steps as directed.
Support secure network access initiatives by helping configure Zero Trust tools, update access policies, and assist with client onboarding to cloud-based security services.
Participate in controlled firewall and network security changes on platforms such as FortiGate and Meraki while following established approval procedures.
Monitor threat visibility dashboards and endpoint security alerts, triage issues according to documented guidance, and maintain accurate ticket notes for follow-up.
Perform day-to-day Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration, including mailbox support, permissions management, license updates, user maintenance, and collaboration platform troubleshooting.
Help maintain backup and disaster recovery operations by checking job status, escalating failures, validating restores, and keeping technical documentation current in system records.
Contribute to client onboarding and continuous improvement efforts by preparing configuration records, updating runbooks, supporting risk and impact assessments, and completing assigned technical learning plans.

Requirements

Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory or Entra ID.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and user licensing.
Familiarity with endpoint management and security tools used for patching, monitoring, compliance, or threat detection.
Understanding of core networking and security concepts, including firewall rule review, access control, and Zero Trust principles.
Ability to investigate alerts, document technical findings clearly, and escalate issues through established support processes.
Exposure to infrastructure or cloud platforms, including virtual machines, storage services, and identity-driven policy management.
Experience maintaining technical documentation, asset records, and operational procedures in a structured support environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
