OVERVIEW:
Our fully remote client is seeking an Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) Engineer to support Framework Builds for ARO Installation, Administration, and CI/CD pipelines. Partner closely with application teams on onboarding and platform operations.
Join a small, highly technical platform team supporting Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) environments. You will work directly with a senior hands-on engineer and offshore developer to scale Kubernetes-based application onboarding across the organization.
This role is critical in standardizing and automating deployments using Helm and GitHub practices, enabling application teams with limited Kubernetes expertise to successfully deploy and operate workloads.
Position Description
Manage and administer Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) clusters
Design and implement scalable Kubernetes deployment patterns using Helm
Build reusable Helm charts to support application onboarding and standardization
Leverage ArgoCD and GitOps workflows for automated, repeatable deployments
Configure and maintain service mesh solutions (Istio or Linkerd)
Write and manage Kubernetes manifests and extend operator capabilities
Install and integrate tools within Kubernetes environments via Helm
Partner with application teams to onboard workloads and improve platform adoption
Ensure environments are well-designed, thoroughly tested, and production-ready
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance and reliability
Required Skills
4+ years experience installing and configurating operators with Azure Red Hat OpenShift or OpenShift Container Platform (alongside Kubernetes)
2+ years of experience with Helm (required core to role)
Experience building and managing Helm charts for complex, multicluster environments (for CI/CD pipelines, for quick microservices onboarding, etc.)
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization
Working knowledge of ArgoCD (required)
Experience writing and managing Kubernetes manifests
Ability to install, configure, and extend Kubernetes operators
Experience with Istio or Linkerd (required)
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
Proficiency with Bash scripting (Bash a must)
Bonus Skills
Experience scaling Kubernetes platforms across multiple application teams
Azure cloud experience (networking, monitoring, integrations)
Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring tools
Strong troubleshooting and platform engineering mindset
Experience working in lean, high-demand environments with rapid onboarding needs
Strong collaboration skills with both engineering and non-Kubernetes-savvy teams
