Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Orlando, FL that is seeking a DevOps Engineer.

About the Role:
We're hiring DevOps/Infrastructure Engineers to own the cloud platform behind a B2B SaaS product supporting U.S. government procurement. The application runs on AWS and processes sensitive data under multiple compliance frameworks. Reliability, security, and auditability are contractual requirements, not aspirational goals. This is a hands-on role covering the full infrastructure lifecycle: infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containerized workloads, production monitoring, and incident response. We are a small team - you won't open tickets for another group to execute. You'll design, build, deploy, and operate what you ship, including participating in on-call rotation. We are hiring one senior-level engineer with deep ownership experience and one junior-to-mid engineer with strong fundamentals and the desire to grow into full platform ownership.

Infrastructure as Code & AWS Architecture:
* Design, provision, and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform (VPCs, subnets, security groups, ALBs, ECS, RDS, S3, KMS, IAM)
* Support multi-environment and multi-region patterns (dev ? stage ? prod) with strict isolation
* Maintain Terraform modules, state management, and CI-driven plan/apply workflows with review gates
* Design network architectures using least-privilege principles (public/private subnets, NAT, WAF, security groups)

Containers & Compute:
* Build and optimize Docker images for ECS Fargate (multi-stage builds, image size reduction, caching)
* Manage ECR registries with lifecycle policies, vulnerability scanning, and remediation workflows
* Configure ECS services, task definitions, auto-scaling, and multi-AZ deployments
* Manage EC2 workloads where required (bastions, VDI, specialized compute), including configuration management and patching

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of experience operating production infrastructure on AWS (senior candidates typically 6-8+)
* Strong Terraform experience (writing modules daily, not occasionally)
* Hands-on experience with ECS Fargate or comparable container orchestration
* Solid Docker skills for production workloads
* Strong understanding of AWS networking (VPCs, subnets, ALB/WAF, NAT, security groups)
* Practical IAM experience applying least privilege rigorously
* Experience managing RDS PostgreSQL (backups, restore, monitoring)
* Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
* Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and on-call incident workflows
* Comfort scripting and automating (Bash required; Python a plus)
* Exposure to SOC 2 or similar compliance environments

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Ansible for EC2 configuration and patching
* Familiarity with Lambda and event-driven automation
* Experience managing Amazon MQ / RabbitMQ
* Experience with Secrets Manager rotation, KMS CMKs, and JIT access patterns (SSM)
* Exposure to FedRAMP, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, or CMMC
* Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, or multi-account strategies
* Cost optimization experience (right-sizing, savings plans, tagging strategies)
* GitOps workflows and drift detection

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.

Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.

This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
