Summary

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Instructional Designer to support the scale-up of an advanced manufacturing operations training program for a pioneering autonomous vehicle organization. As the company prepares for mass production, you will play an instrumental role in building a mature, comprehensive training ecosystem that ensures safety, quality, and strict compliance across our manufacturing and logistics teams.

The ideal candidate is a master of technical translation, capable of converting dense technical specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs) into clear, engaging, and competency-based learning experiences. In this role, you will bridge the gap between virtual introductory content and practical, hands-on shop floor qualification. You should be equally comfortable navigating technical machinery and digital applications as you are collaborating with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a structured curriculum for manufacturing and logistics associates that seamlessly integrates virtual training, instructor-led training (ILT), and on-the-job training (OJT) frameworks.

  • Utilize Articulate 360, Storyline, and Rise to create high-quality virtual training modules that adhere to instructional design best practices, information chunking, and modern accessibility standards.

  • Partner closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and technical writers to translate complex work instructions and technical specifications into digestible, interactive training materials.

  • Guide technical writing teams when assisting with training development, ensuring the consistent enforcement of style, formatting, and content standards.

  • Create robust, criteria-based assessments and practical qualification checklists to verify learner competency and guarantee long-term knowledge retention on the floor.

  • Define and standardize OJT processes and certification criteria to ensure a safe and seamless transition from virtual learning to supervised practical application.

  • Support the administration, management, and continuous optimization of the enterprise-grade Docebo Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of dedicated experience in instructional design, specifically within a technical, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Instructional Expertise: Proven mastery of both virtual and live training design, with a deep understanding of adult learning theory and interactive engagement strategies.

  • Technical Tech Stack: Expert-level skills in Articulate 360 (Rise/Storyline) and familiarity with managing enterprise LMS platforms (specifically Docebo). Proficiency with Google Workspace and generative AI productivity tools is required.

  • Technical Synthesis: An exceptional ability to analyze complex, dense technical documentation and transform it into clear, action-oriented training content.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across functions with factory managers, technical writers, and engineering SMEs in a fast-paced environment.

  • Preferred Background: Direct experience in autonomous vehicles, aerospace, EV/automotive production, or other highly regulated, high-tech manufacturing industries (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or utilities) is highly preferred.

  • Education: A professional certificate or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Position Logistics & Safety Requirements
  • Onsite Expectation: This is an in-person position operating directly within a fast-paced factory environment.

  • Required Dress/PPE: Because you will be spending time on the production floor, you must provide your own composite-toe safety shoes on Day 1. Safety shoes must conform fully with ASTM F 2412 (Standard Test Methods for Foot Protection) and ASTM F 2413 (Standard Specification Performance Requirements for Foot Protection).
