Description Our client, a reputable nonprofit organization based in Chicago, is seeking a Digital Content Specialist for a long-term contract position. This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of copywriting experience who is passionate about public health communication and digital innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with developers and marketing teams to update and maintain website content using a content management system (CMS).
- Design and execute user-focused content strategies that align with organizational objectives.
- Write compelling ad copy and develop messaging for integrated digital campaigns.
- Conduct regular website audits, making strategic edits to enhance clarity and user experience.
- Translate print materials such as brochures or project briefs into engaging and accessible online content for diverse audiences.
- Manage editorial calendars and oversee the complete lifecycle of digital content, ensuring timely updates and brand consistency.
- Perform keyword research and apply SEO best practices to boost content visibility.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all digital content aligns with branding and communications standards.
Project Highlight: You will be part of a collaborative team working on a high-impact healthcare initiative, focusing on translating medical information into friendly, digestible content for the general public.
Team Environment: Work directly with our client's content team, collaborating closely with other writers, content strategists, and subject matter experts.
Requirements Required Skills & Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in copywriting, with proven work across integrated creative campaigns and multi-channel messaging.
- Excellent digital writing and proofreading skills; ability to create and manage web/app content.
- Experience translating complex scientific or technical information into clear, reader-friendly copy.
- Understanding of user-centric content design and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CMS (e.g., Kentico, AEM, Drupal or similar platforms).
- Familiarity with adapting print materials into dynamic web content.
- Experience using editorial calendars and knowledge of content governance processes.
- Proficient in AP style and editorial standards.
- Demonstrated keyword research and SEO implementation skills.
- Ability to create promotional and ad copy for various digital campaigns.
- Experience uploading and managing video content on digital platforms.
- Background or familiarity with public health and/or medical terminology is a plus.
