Role Overview
This position supports the design, development, and production of power delivery and energy systems for autonomous mobility services. The role involves hands-on work with electrical systems, testing hardware, and wire harnesses in a dynamic engineering lab environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with design engineers to build and troubleshoot test systems for electric vehicle components.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and build testing hardware for electrical systems to the component level.
- Troubleshoot testing hardware and perform approved high-voltage enable/disable procedures.
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop and implement appropriate test systems.
- Create, update, and repair wire harnesses for developmental electric vehicles.
- Support engineering lab preparedness, including inventory management and equipment calibration.
- Perform firmware updates on embedded hardware systems in the lab and in the field.
- Support lab operations related to battery testing, teardown, and analysis as needed.
- Carry out servicing and repair operations in a safe and methodical manner.
Required Qualifications
Education: An Associate's degree, trade school certificate in mechatronics, electronics, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience related to automotive wire harness or electric vehicle systems is necessary. Experience with the maintenance and repair of power electronics and low-voltage PCBA circuits is required.
Technical Skills: Candidates must have an understanding of basic diagnostics processes and high-voltage/low-voltage safety training. Proficiency in reading wire harness drawings, schematics, and managing wire circuit lists is essential. The role requires the ability to solder, crimp, strip, and fabricate harnesses. Experience with test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and various sensors is required. A soldering certification is also a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with manual metal fabrication tools and processes (milling, lathe, welding).
- Experience with 3D design tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or Catia.
- Through-hole and SMA soldering and rework experience.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC test techniques.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified Standard Expert (CSE) certification.
- High Voltage Certification and training.
