Fleet Support Engineer - Chassis

Location: Foster City, California (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

This position is critical to ensuring the operational uptime and reliability of a cutting-edge fleet, with a specific focus on chassis systems. The role requires a technical expert who excels at collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting troubleshooting processes, and providing immediate support for daily fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for real-time escalations regarding brakes, steering, suspension, and chassis control issues.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis to implement both interim and permanent corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to ride quality, vehicle stability, and suspension performance.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive troubleshooting guides for chassis components to empower field technicians.
  • Validate and perform component and vehicle bring-up/functional verification procedures, with a focus on chassis systems.
  • Analyze large datasets to proactively identify systematic issues and recommend preventative actions.
  • Be available for night and weekend shifts as needed, with advanced notice provided.
  • Be willing to travel occasionally to support various operational locations.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, with a focus on Chassis/safety-control systems/ADAS.

Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with chassis systems, including but not limited to suspension, steering, and braking.
  • Proficiency with interpreting electrical schematics, harness diagrams, and state machine diagrams.
  • Experience with debugging Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) issues.
  • Experience with HIL/SIL Firmware Validation methodologies.
  • Experience preparing test design and test plans from Firmware requirements or State Machines.
  • A proactive self-starter who can build strong relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years specifically in firmware validation for embedded systems.
  • Extensive experience with CAN Architecture, including frame-level troubleshooting using tools like Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, or PCAN.
  • Hands-on experience with fail-safe/fail-operational architectures in automotive safety-critical components such as brakes and steering systems.
  • Strong understanding of Embedded Controls (PID loops, state machines) and interfacing with physical sensors/actuators.
  • Proficiency in CAPL for automating/reviewing diagnostic routines.
  • Experience with electric vehicle technology.
Compensation

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $73.40/hour and $83.40/hour. The actual rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
