Software Engineer (GenAI)

Locations: Rockville, MD or McLean, VA — Hybrid 
Contract: 6+ months, with possible extension
Levels: Mid-Level / Senior

Position Overview

We are seeking Software Engineers with GenAI experience to support a project focused on building GenAI-based insights and tools for investigators. The team will develop new capabilities, integrate AI functionality into existing applications, and take solutions into production.

Candidates should have a strong software engineering background with experience developing production applications using Java and/or Python, AWS, and modern AI-assisted development tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate GenAI-powered applications and capabilities for investigative workflows.
• Build production-ready applications and services using Java and/or Python.
• Develop lightweight/serverless solutions using AWS Lambda and related AWS services.
• Integrate new capabilities into existing applications and systems.
• Support the deployment and operation of applications in production environments.
• Participate in taking new applications and systems from development through production.
• Use AI-assisted development and code-generation tools to improve software development productivity.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate GenAI capabilities into existing development workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Mid-Level: 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Senior-Level: 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong application/software engineering background.
• Hands-on experience with Java and/or Python.
• Experience with AWS and serverless/lightweight development, particularly AWS Lambda.
• Experience managing or supporting production systems.
• Demonstrated experience taking new applications or systems into production.
• Experience using AI-assisted development or code-generation tools.
• Ability to integrate GenAI capabilities into software engineering workflows.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with Kiro or comparable AI development tools.
• Previous experience developing GenAI/LLM-powered applications.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications.
• Experience working in regulated or financial-services environments.

Candidate Location Requirement

Candidates should be able to support the hybrid work arrangement in Rockville, MD or McLean, VA and must be available to attend the onsite interview in Rockville, MD.
