An opportunity is available for an experienced Application Architect and Virtualization Automation Engineer. This role supports the delivery of hosted virtual desktop and application automation solutions. The position focuses on platform automation, systems integration, and workflow ownership across VMware-based virtualization platforms. This is a hands-on architect role with accountability from design through production support, positioned between traditional infrastructure engineering and application development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to integrations with VMware Aria, VMware vSphere, and Horizon-based platforms.
- Serve as a technical authority for virtualization automation solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows for virtual desktop and application lifecycle management.
- Influence automation standards and integration patterns as a key contributor within a platform engineering team.
- Own automation solutions across the full lifecycle, including architecture, integration, deployment, and production support.
- Design and consume secure RESTful APIs to support system-to-system integration.
- Support and troubleshoot pre-production and production environments, including operational triage and root cause analysis.
- Ensure automation workflows are resilient, maintainable, and operationally sound.
- Document architectural decisions, workflows, and integration patterns using JIRA and Confluence.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting production applications or platform solutions.
- Experience with solution architecture, systems integration, and platform automation in enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to create and consume secure RESTful APIs.
- Demonstrated experience supporting pre-production and production systems.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware-based platforms.
- Experience with Horizon Connection Server or similar virtualization brokers.
- Comfort documenting architectural and engineering decisions using JIRA and Confluence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or contributing to automation workflow development and maintenance.
- Hands-on full-stack development experience (MVC frameworks, PowerShell, SQL).
- Experience with workflow orchestration or automation platforms (e.g., VMware Aria / vRealize Automation).
- Prior experience in an operations or production support role.
- Understanding of virtualization concepts such as Clusters, VLANs, and Storage (SAN / NAS).
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Rate: $65.00/hr - $70.24/hr. The pay rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
