Title: Lead Business Analyst-Duck creek- commercial P&C Insurance

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst Lead with a combination of commercial P&C insurance domain depth, Duck Creek platform expertise, and hands-on experience with API-led test automation strategies. This role is the central figure in a high-stakes migration from Duck Creek Express 2.0 (Agent Portal) to Duck Creek Express 3.0, owning not just requirements and analysis, but the end-to-end testing program with a mandate to build and drive an API-first automation framework that validates the migration with speed, repeatability, and precision.
This is not a traditional BA role with testing responsibilities appended. The candidate must be equally fluent in Insurance business rules, Duck Creek configuration internals, and the API surface that Duck Creek exposes and must be capable of translating that fluency into an automation strategy that survives the project and scales into production regression.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Migration Requirements
- Conduct a comprehensive current-state assessment of the Express 2.0 implementation, including Agent Portal configurations, product models, rating logic, rules, forms, and integrations
- Perform detailed fit/gap analysis between Express 2.0 and Express 3.0, documenting functional deltas, deprecated capabilities, configuration model changes, and net-new features requiring adoption decisions
- Translate commercial P&C business rules covering the full policy lifecycle across submission, quoting, rating, binding, issuance, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and renewals into functional specifications aligned with Express 3.0
- Document as-is and to-be process flows for all in-scope lines of business, with explicit callouts for agent-facing workflow changes resulting from the Agent Portal-to-Express 3.0 portal transition
- Partner with Duck Creek architects to assess the impact of customizations, technical debt, and integration dependencies carried forward from the Express 2.0 implementation and determine testable attributes and define test strategy
- Support data migration analysis for policies-in-force, including mid-term policy handling, data mapping, and transformation rules
Duck Creek Platform
- 5+ years of hands-on Duck Creek experience across implementation, upgrade, or migration engagements
- Direct experience with Duck Creek Express 2.0, including Agent Portal, product model configuration, rating, rules, and the Express 2.0 policy lifecycle
- Working knowledge of Duck Creek Express 3.0, including architectural differences, the revised portal framework, Product Studio changes, and migration implications relative to Express 2.0
- Strong understanding of Duck Creek's REST API layer, including policy transaction APIs, authentication patterns, payload structures, and error handling behaviors
- Familiarity with Duck Creek's OnDemand (SaaS) environment, deployment cadence,
P&C Insurance Domain
- 5+ years of commercial P&C insurance experience with strong working knowledge of at least three lines: BOP, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers' Compensation, Inland Marine, Commercial Property, Umbrella/Excess
- Deep understanding of the commercial policy lifecycle across all transaction types
Business Analysis
- Proven ability to conduct fit/gap analysis in the context of a platform migration or upgrade
- Strong experience authoring BRDs, functional specs, and user stories in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA/Zephyr, qTest, or ALM
