Position: Digital Design Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA

About the Role

We are seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced mission-enabling technologies. In this role, you will work on innovative systems that support global security and next-generation communication solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, integrate, and test digital hardware with a primary focus on software-defined radio (SDR) applications.

This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to high-impact, future-driven systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and test digital circuit card assemblies used in SDR applications.

Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams.

Analyze system concept of operations, requirements, and design documentation to resolve functional, performance, and timing issues.

Define specifications for PCB stack-up, layout, routing, and thermal techniques to ensure compliance with engineering guidelines and standards.

Perform design troubleshooting and support throughout the full hardware lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field with 5+ years of engineering experience, OR
Master's degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of engineering experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Working knowledge of formal engineering development processes for digital circuit cards supporting FPGA System-on-Chip architectures.

Experience using Siemens Xpedition EDA tools.

Preferred Qualifications

8+ years of professional technical engineering experience.

Experience in both Analog/RF and Digital design and testing.

Hands-on experience with AMD/Xilinx RFSoC platforms.

Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.

Expertise in detailed digital component-level analysis.

Experience with component selection and coordination with supply chain teams.

Background in electronic test set design, development, testing, and sustainment.

Ability to perform worst-case performance analysis for critical digital signals.

Experience preparing and presenting design reviews to technical stakeholders.

Proficiency using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for board-level debugging.

Experience translating system requirements into design documents and test specifications.

Hands-on experience with DoD communication systems.
