Role Overview
In this contingent resource assignment, the Software Engineer will consult on and participate in moderately complex initiatives within Software Engineering. The role involves contributing to large-scale planning for data and platform engineering, analyzing complex challenges, and resolving issues by applying a solid understanding of software engineering practices, policies, and compliance requirements. This position requires close collaboration with client personnel to ensure high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Senior Database and Data Engineer supporting enterprise initiatives and platform modernization.
- Participate in the infrastructure migration from on-premise environments to Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL-based data solutions and large-scale data processing pipelines.
- Work with BigQuery and Big Data platforms to support analytics and downstream data consumption.
- Develop or enhance data workflows using Python and/or Java as needed.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and engineering teams within a Kanban delivery model.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise engineering standards, security, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of strong database engineering experience, including advanced SQL development and large-scale data processing. 4+ years of Software Engineering experience with a strong focus on data and database engineering, demonstrated through hands-on enterprise work.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), including BigQuery, and exposure to Big Data environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python and/or Java for data engineering and backend processing.
- Familiarity with Hadoop, Iceberg, ETL pipelines, or large-scale data migration initiatives.
Work Environment
This role requires a mandatory in-office presence 2 days per week, with a schedule that rotates monthly. The contract length is 12 months. Contractors are not regularly required to support quarterly releases, with only rare weekend shifts if needed.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is $58.00 - $61.00 per hour.
