The Opportunity
StaffRight Associates is seeking a high-caliber financial leader to serve as a Plant Controller for a global industrial manufacturing powerhouse in the Greater Birmingham area. This is a pivotal leadership role designed for a strategic thinker who thrives in high-energy production environments.
You will serve as the primary financial co-pilot to site leadership, transforming complex operational data into actionable business intelligence that drives profitability, streamlines costs, and ensures fiscal integrity across the facility’s entire footprint.
What You’ll Do
Orchestrate the comprehensive month-end closing cycle to deliver precise, high-integrity financial snapshots within aggressive timelines.
Synthesize complex financial statements and provide deep-dive variance analysis to bridge the gap between projected forecasts and actual performance.
Architect the site’s annual budgeting and rolling forecast models, providing the financial roadmap necessary for long-term operational success.
Optimize cost accounting frameworks, meticulously managing inventory valuations, COGS, and mitigation strategies for aging or obsolete stock.
Scrutinize manufacturing metrics—including labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and scrap rates—to identify and implement performance-enhancing solutions.
Champion a rigorous internal control environment, ensuring seamless adherence to SOX protocols and serving as the primary liaison for all audit engagements.
Evaluate the financial viability of capital expenditures (CAPEX) through sophisticated ROI modeling and post-implementation performance tracking.
Collaborate cross-functionally with plant operations to translate financial trends into meaningful operational improvements.
What You Bring
Proven Expertise: At least 5–7 years of progressive financial leadership experience specifically within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Educational Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency in cost accounting, inventory life-cycle management, and sophisticated general ledger reconciliation.
Systems Proficiency: Advanced command of ERP environments (SAP highly preferred) and expert-level Excel capabilities (Slicers, VLOOKUPs, and complex data modeling).
Regulatory Knowledge: A robust understanding of internal control frameworks and SOX compliance standards.
Analytical Rigor: The ability to leverage business intelligence tools—such as Power BI, BOBJ, or similar reporting platforms—to drive data-centric decisions.
Communication Prowess: A talent for distilling complex financial concepts into clear directives for non-financial stakeholders.
