Role Overview
We are seeking a ServiceNow SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) Capability Owner to serve as the domain authority and product owner for the Strategic Portfolio Management capabilities on the ServiceNow platform. This role is accountable for capability maturity, backlog health, prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and governance. The Capability Owner will define the roadmap, shape and prioritize the backlog, and ensure platform investments translate into scalable, business-aligned results. This position is closely tied to enterprise architecture and the broader strategy-to-portfolio value stream.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the product owner for Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), accountable for capability maturity and outcomes.
- Define and execute the product strategy, roadmap, and vision for the SPM domain.
- Own, groom, and prioritize the capability backlog, translating business needs into user stories.
- Partner with enterprise architecture and strategy teams to support modernization efforts.
- Manage demand, intake, and portfolio-related backlogs, ensuring intake process discipline and sprint governance.
- Determine how AI fits into the SPM roadmap by identifying high-value use cases and defining requirements for AI-powered features.
- Serve as the primary interface between business leaders, PMO stakeholders, and the delivery team.
- Mentor technical team members and shield the delivery team from unmanaged stakeholder demands.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years in product ownership, business analysis, portfolio management, or PMO leadership with hands-on ServiceNow platform experience. Must be a strong ServiceNow product owner or product manager who is a self-starter with experience maturing a capability from one state to another.
Technical Skills: Direct experience with the ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) suite, including Demand Management, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Resource Management, Agile Development, Strategic Planning, and Application Portfolio Management (APM). Experience with portfolio planning, roadmap management, and strategy-to-portfolio processes is required.
Leadership: Proven communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bring stakeholders along on the journey and communicate the value of ServiceNow. Experience prioritizing competing stakeholder needs is essential.
Methodologies: Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) and ITIL service management practices.
Education: BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Project Management, or a related field. Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS-SPM) is strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CIS-APM, CSA, PMP, SAFe, Scrum Product Owner, or Scrum Master.
- Experience as an enterprise ServiceNow product owner or owning multiple ServiceNow capabilities.
- Experience defining future AI use cases within portfolio or roadmap planning.
- Familiarity with enterprise portfolio management frameworks, financial planning, and capacity management.
Work Model
- First 90 days: In-person, 5 days per week for onboarding.
- Post onboarding: Hybrid model, 3 days per week in the office.
