Job Description

We are seeking a Software Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IBM Db2 LUW performance engineering, Windows and Linux platform optimization, and large-scale database migration and a proven ability to diagnose bottlenecks, drive production stability, and deliver a Windows-to-Linux Db2 migration with measurable performance gains.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the current Db2 architecture, configuration, security, and operational model for TruckMate. Analyze workload, SQL performance, execution plans, indexes, locking, deadlocks, schema design, tablespaces, buffer pools, memory, logging, and capacity to identify bottlenecks and improvements.

  • Review and tune customer custom SQL and related workflows. Recommend workflow or product changes where SQL changes are not appropriate.

  • Tune Db2 for high-volume transactional TruckMate functions including dispatch, order management, rating, billing, settlement, reporting, and integrations.

  • Diagnose and resolve production issues involving performance degradation, failed jobs, storage constraints, replication issues, backup or recovery failures, and database availability.

  • Review and optimize the Windows Server environment for Db2, including CPU, memory, paging, storage, file systems, disk latency, network settings, service accounts, security, and antivirus exclusions.

  • Develop automation for health checks, configuration validation, and backup verification using PowerShell or comparable tools. Define performance baselines and monitoring standards for Db2 and supporting infrastructure.

  • Lead readiness assessment and planning to migrate a large production Db2 database from Windows to Linux. Define data migration method, testing, cutover, rollback, and validation criteria. Support post-migration stabilization.

  • Engage IBM support and engineering to drive closure on issues and cases.

  • Configure and tune Linux environments for Db2, including file systems, storage mounts, permissions, resource limits, networking, processes, service automation, and monitoring.

  • Benchmark and validate application and database performance pre- and post-migration. Ensure backup, recovery, monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities are maintained or improved.

  • Produce technical findings, risk assessments, migration runbooks, and prioritized recommendations. Provide knowledge transfer to application, database, infrastructure, and support teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience administering and tuning IBM Db2 LUW in production, including buffer pools, tablespaces, memory, logging, backup and recovery, indexing, statistics, and SQL plan analysis for large transactional databases.

  • Deep Windows Server administration and performance tuning for database workloads, with PowerShell proficiency for automation and diagnostics.

  • Proven experience migrating a live production Db2 database from Windows to Linux, including data, custom SQL, and historical workloads.

  • Strong Linux administration skills for Db2, including storage, file systems, permissions, user and group management, resource limits, processes, networking, and service automation.

  • Ability to escalate and collaborate effectively with IBM support and engineering.

  • Experience creating migration runbooks, cutover, rollback, validation checklists, and post-migration support plans.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in high-availability, business-critical environments.

  • Clear written and verbal communication that translates technical findings into practical recommendations for varied stakeholders.

  • [Experience level e.g., 5+ years in relevant roles]

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting TruckMate or similar transportation management systems across dispatch, order management, rating, settlement, billing, EDI, telematics, finance, and reporting.

  • Experience with Db2 HADR, replication, clustering, or pureScale.

  • Experience with enterprise Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations and executing low-downtime maintenance or migration cutovers.

  • IBM Db2 or Linux certifications, or equivalent enterprise production experience.

  • Windows Server and Db2 tuning changes implemented with recommendations.

  • Target Linux platform design and Db2 configuration standards.

  • Contributions to migration strategy, cutover plan, rollback plan, and validation approach for Windows-to-Linux.

  • Support through cutover, validation, and post-migration stabilization.

  • Performance baseline and post-migration comparison report.

  • Monitoring, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery recommendations.

  • Operational runbooks and knowledge-transfer materials for internal teams.
