Role Summary
This position focuses on planning, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Teams telephony solutions, with a strong emphasis on migrations from legacy systems like Skype for Business, Cisco, or on-prem PBX to Teams Phone. You will lead voice migrations, configure PSTN connectivity, and ensure seamless telephony operations for enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end migrations of telephony systems to Microsoft Teams Phone, including number porting, user migrations, auto-attendants, and call queues.
- Design and deploy Teams Phone configurations: Direct Routing, Operator Connect, Microsoft Calling Plans, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and Teams-certified devices.
- Plan and execute migrations from Skype for Business or legacy telephony (e.g., Cisco UCCE, AVAYA) to Teams, handling coexistence, hybrid setups, and cutover strategies.
- Troubleshoot voice issues using SIP protocols, Call Quality Dashboard, PowerShell scripting, and network optimization (QoS, ExpressRoute).
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and teams to translate business needs into technical architectures for voice, collaboration, and compliance.
- Provide post-migration support, monitoring, and optimization for audio/video conferencing, voicemail, and integrations (e.g., contact centers like Genesys).
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years in telephony engineering, Microsoft 365/Teams administration, and cloud migrations.
- Expertise in Teams Phone System, PSTN connectivity (Direct Routing/SBCs like AudioCodes/Ribbon), and voice features (call queues, auto-attendants, hunt groups).
- Proven migration experience: Hybrid identity (Azure AD/Entra), Exchange/Skype coexistence, PowerShell for bulk provisioning.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, Exchange Online, Intune), networking (SIP, QoS), and security (DLP, conditional access).
- Experience with tools: Azure AD Connect, third-party migration tools (BitTitan, Quest), Teams Admin Center.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications: MS-700 (Managing Teams), MS-720 (Teams Voice Engineer), MS-102 (M365 Admin), SC-300 (Identity).
- Bachelor's in IT/Computer Science or equivalent; telecom background a plus.
- Excellent communication for client-facing work and stakeholder management.
