Summary

Location: Columbia, SC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week).
Employment Type: Contract.
Interview Mode: One round, Onsite in Columbia.

Core Responsibilities

SQL Administration: Administer SQL Server (v2016+) instances, manage SQL Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and high-availability configurations (Always On/Clustering).
Performance Tuning: Optimize large-scale tables, stored procedures, CTE-heavy workloads, and ETL loops to reduce blocking and deadlocks.
Data Governance: Support the Chief Justice's data initiatives by standardizing county codes, circuit mappings, and court type alignments across jurisdictions.
Warehouse & Reporting: Optimize loading processes for the Judicial Data Warehouse and tune back-end queries for Power BI dashboards.
Security Hardening: Implement role-based security, monitor audit logs, and ensure compliance with judicial confidentiality and CJIS standards.
Automation & DevOps: Script deployment pipelines for schema changes and create reusable scripts for security audits and multi-database updates.

Required Experience & Skills

Database Administration: 7+ years of experience in SQL Server Administration and Operations.
Performance Optimization: 3+ years of hands-on experience tuning complex queries and indexing strategies.
Data Integrity & Governance: 3+ years of experience supporting data standardization and referential integrity.
Warehouse & Reporting: 3+ years of experience with Data Warehouse architecture and reporting back-end support.
Security & Compliance: 3+ years of experience in security hardening and compliance (e.g., CJIS or judicial standards).
Automation: 3+ years of experience with DevOps support and administrative scripting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Judicial, Government, or Public Sector environments.
Proficiency in Azure DevOps and .NET application data access patterns.
Experience cleaning and reconciling legacy data structures across multiple jurisdictions.
