Network Engineer - SCADA Operations & Engineering

Role Summary
A Senior Network Engineer specializing in SCADA network operations and security is sought to lead the management and oversight of mission-critical utility and infrastructure networks. This role involves hands-on engineering, vendor coordination, and operational leadership to ensure network performance, security, and compliance. The position requires expertise in enterprise networking, SCADA systems, and security protocols, supporting critical infrastructure environments with a focus on continuous improvement and incident resolution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical owner for the SCADA network environment, overseeing availability, performance, and security.
• Develop and maintain network architecture, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
• Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and escalation for SCADA network-related issues.
• Manage vendor relationships, including defining service expectations, monitoring performance, and coordinating support activities.
• Own and optimize network monitoring strategies, including device availability, interface utilization, routing, and environmental alerts.
• Implement and support secure communications, VPNs, and network segmentation aligned with security standards.
• Coordinate hardware lifecycle management, including planning firmware updates, refreshes, and end-of-life remediation efforts.
• Ensure network configurations adhere to security policies and regulatory compliance through regular reviews and audits.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions during major incidents and outages.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network designs, standards, and operational procedures to ensure consistency across platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• At least 3 years supporting SCADA, operational technology, or critical infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience managing external vendors and service providers.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and security protocols, including Cisco IOS/IOS-XE, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and segmentation strategies.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as ManageEngine, NetBrain, and Syslog.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical incident response efforts and document complex network architectures.
• Active technical certifications such as CCNP Enterprise or equivalent are preferred; CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or Cisco CyberOps certification are a plus.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
• Ability to operate independently, owning large-scale network systems and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 - $60.00 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with a mix of in-office work and remote flexibility.
