As a Translations Engineer you will be the telecom professional responsible for the design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex translations content contained in the database structures of each voice switching office throughout the voice network. Your work ensures successful trunk provisioning, call routing and call charging of all voice traffic throughout the portion of the Public Switched Telephone Network.
As a Translations Engineer your duties will include but are not limited to:
• Reviewing, prioritizing, and implementing all pending trunk provisioning, routing, and project related work for those switches assigned to you.
• Scheduling your activities to meet the customer’s need and to minimize any adverse impact to customer service.
• Exercising your best professional judgement in implementing all translations changes to minimize the risk of service degradations and outages attributable to your activities.
• Providing translations support for all projects assigned to you. This includes designing translations solutions for major network events and new product offerings.
• Rendering translations technical assistance to other work groups as requests are received therefrom.
• Analyzing and optimizing the translations in all your assigned switches.
• Maintaining awareness of and compliance with all regulatory requirements regarding telephone services provided to customers in switches under your purview.
• Providing training to employees in a wide variety of translations topics, i.e., routing, screening, signaling, troubleshooting, and billing.
You will thrive in this role if you:
• Possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent 4 years telecommunications work or military experience.
• Are adept at using Microsoft Office applications particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Are comfortable utilizing telnet clients such as PuTTY and SecureCRT.
A plus if you have:
• Experience with VoIP switching systems translations.
• A proficiency interpreting Q764, 87Q931, SIP, and other networking protocol messages.
• Work experience as a Central Office Network Technician.
• Work experience as a Voice Network Operations Center Engineer or Technician.
• Experience in writing, running, and debugging VBS, Python, or PERL scripts.
Language Skills:
A proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
