We are seeking to hire a Defect Testing Manager to join our team working on a new multi-year award we have within a State Gov’t client, updating their Medicare/Medicaid systems. This role is 100% remote.
Being a US Cit is required for working on this program.
This position pays a strong salary package with full benefits (including choice of healthcare plans, dental, vision, life insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and a matching 401k).

Position Overview
The Defect Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the endβtoβend defect management process for DDI (Design, Development, and Implementation) and M&O (Maintenance and Operations) projects. This role ensures efficient triage, tracking, prioritization, and resolution of defects across all testing phases. The Defect Manager collaborates closely with crossβfunctional teams to maintain high standards of quality while adhering to organizational processes and best practices.
Qualifications
· 6+ years of experience in software testing, QA, or defect management.
· Experience with healthcare is required preferably with Medicaid systems.
· Strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
· Handsβon experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., ALM).
· Strong SQL skills for data validation.
· Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical skills.
· Experience working with distributed teams and large projects.
Preferred Skills
· Familiarity with Medicaid/MMIS systems.
· Certifications such as ISTQB, PMP, or Agile Scrum Master are a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Defect Management & Coordination
· Provide coordination to triage, track, and prioritize defects to ensure they are resolved efficiently during the testing phase.
· Lead defect review meetings with testers, developers, business analysts, and project leadership.
· Ensure accurate defect logging, status updates, root cause categorization, and timely closure.
· Monitor defect trends, identify systemic issues, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
· Maintain the defect management repository and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Testing Support & Quality Governance
· Collaborate with functional, regression, performance, automation, TDM, environment, and release management teams to ensure alignment across testing cycles.
· Support the implementation of test governance processes, including quality gates and defect turn-around times.
· Partner with Release Coordinators during code merges and regression activities to assess defectβrelated risks.
· Participate in audit and compliance activities, ensuring all defect documentation and evidence are in place.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
· Act as the primary point of contact for defectβrelated communications across project teams.
· Provide daily and weekly defect dashboards, metrics, and status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
· Coordinate with offshore and onshore teams to maintain consistency in defect tracking and resolution.
· Work closely with project managers and test managers to align testing schedules, impacts, and readiness criteria.
Continuous Improvement
· Analyze defect trends to drive root cause analysis and implement defect prevention strategies.
· Recommend improvements to defect workflow processes, tools, and reporting structures.
· Collaborate in evaluating automation and quality engineering opportunities to reduce defect recurrence.
Client & Delivery Management
· Support client interactions related to defect status, priority decisions, and quality impacts.
· Ensure all defect activities meet agreedβupon SLAs and contribute to successful testing milestones and overall delivery.
· Monitor change requests to assess potential impacts on defect volume and testing quality.
