Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer III to join our Enterprise Data Office. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ETL development, DB2 to Snowflake migration, DataStage, and dbt and a proven ability to design and deliver scalable data solutions that enable regulatory reporting and enterprise analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead migration from legacy DataStage and DB2 to modern ETL frameworks and Snowflake.
- Analyze data flows across Bancorp systems and author ETL to implement target designs.
- Design, develop, and support enterprise data solutions, APIs, tools, and processes.
- Serve as liaison between engineering teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Translate business and technical strategies into data-driven solutions in partnership with IT, architecture, security, and LOB teams.
- Act as technical expert on system and application design, performance, integration, and security.
- Conduct research and development on data engineering, banking trends, data security, and related technologies.
- Build CI/CD pipelines, self-service build tools, and automated deployment processes with developers.
- Evaluate software products and provide documented recommendations.
- Support and troubleshoot data platforms, including participation in escalated on-call rotations.
- Participate in planning for data platform hardware and software.
- Drive internal projects such as legacy replacement, monitoring and analytics improvements, tool development, and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members while managing multiple priorities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience as a data engineer with strong ETL development skills.
- Hands-on experience migrating from DB2 to Snowflake and modern ETL tooling.
- Proficiency with DataStage, dbt, Snowflake, and SQL for data warehousing and transformation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management, business sponsors, and technical teams in appropriate language for each audience.
- Experience designing APIs, data models, and data pipelines with attention to performance and security.
Preferred Skills:
- Background with big data technologies, metadata management, BI and reporting tools, messaging systems, and virtualization.
- Experience with major cloud platforms and REST API design and development.
- Financial services industry experience.
- Mentoring experience with junior engineers.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
