Our client is seeking a IT Disaster Recovery Lead in for a remote opportunity.
Role Description
This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing disaster recovery strategies and plans to ensure the continuous availability of critical technology infrastructure and applications for a healthcare customer.
The position partners closely with the Manager of Cybersecurity Disaster Recovery to coordinate cross-functional efforts across application teams, change management, infrastructure, risk, and business continuity. Responsibilities include leading disaster recovery exercises and maintaining associated documentation such as Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), test plans, and post-test reports.
Develop and implement comprehensive disaster recovery strategies aligned with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
Collaborate with IT teams (network, applications, database, infrastructure, and servers) and business application owners to ensure disaster recovery requirements are defined, mitigated, and validated through testing.
Conduct disaster recovery risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify gaps and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support and maintain IT system dependency mapping in collaboration with application owners.
Coordinate with IT teams to ensure robust backup systems, data replication, and failover processes.
Plan and lead disaster recovery exercises and simulations; evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement based on results and post-exercise reports.
Partner with business continuity, emergency management, and crisis management stakeholders within the healthcare customer environment to minimize disruption to critical services.
Maintain up-to-date disaster recovery documentation, including procedures, strategies, and training materials.
Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on disaster recovery best practices.
Stay current on emerging technologies, evolving threats, and industry best practices in healthcare IT security and disaster recovery.
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, or a related field within healthcare.
Strong understanding of healthcare IT systems and disaster recovery methodologies.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
Experience with disaster recovery platforms, data backup solutions, and replication technologies.
Technical familiarity with virtual servers, database replication, networking, cloud platforms, Citrix, and SaaS environments.
Proven experience developing, documenting, and testing disaster recovery plans.
Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CBCP, AHPCP, CHPCP).
