Business Analyst - Business Analyst II

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

This position requires the review, analysis, and evaluation of business systems and user needs to formulate systems that parallel overall business strategies. The role involves analyzing complex business processes to identify improvement opportunities, delivering tactical solutions, and developing strategic thinking. The successful candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze business processes to identify improvement opportunities and deliver solutions.
  • Translate complex problems into actionable outputs and design short-term solutions that anticipate business changes.
  • Take ownership of projects, proactively identify patterns, and propose new approaches.
  • Leverage deep business expertise to contribute to team strategy and maintain command of key metrics.
  • Determine what needs automation versus one-time analysis, applying SQL, visualization, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Ensure work consistently meets high-quality standards: error-free, well-documented, and answering appropriate business questions.
  • Handle large datasets using technical tools and set quality checks in automated solutions.
  • Share insights through clear written and verbal communication tailored to audiences from peers to executive leadership.
  • Mentor developing team members and may participate in recruiting activities.
Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree in a related area may be required.

Experience: 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Proven track record of delivering high-quality analytical solutions.

Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills, visualization expertise, spreadsheet proficiency, and experience with diagnostic analysis techniques (e.g., root cause analysis, mix/rate calculations, pareto analysis). Ability to handle large datasets. Familiarity with relational database concepts and client-server concepts.

  • Experience leading and directing the work of others.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and create mechanisms that promote equity.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay Rate: $29.00/hr - $39.00/hr. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, and location.
