Job SummaryWe are seeking an Engineer II (Senior Mainframe Developer) to join our Mainframe Engineering team. This role requires deep technical expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, along with the ability to operate effectively within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
The ideal candidate will contribute to major project initiatives, collaborate closely with engineering peers, product teams, and business partners, and deliver high-quality, scalable mainframe solutions. This position operates within an Agile delivery model and includes participation in an on-call rotation during business and off-hours.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe-based solutions using COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL.
- Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into high-quality technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing applications in a high-availability mainframe environment.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical design, delivery timelines, and project goals.
- Provide production support, including participation in on-call rotations during and outside standard business hours.
Required Skills & Experience- 7+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience, including:
- Strong understanding of Agile / SDLC methodologies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems and deliver effective solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within large-scale, enterprise mainframe systems
Nice-to-Have Qualifications- Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud environments.
- Experience working in both team-driven and individual contributor roles.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes and technical instructions.
