Job Summary
We are seeking a QA Engineer II (Senior Mainframe Manual QA) to join our Mainframe Engineering team. This role focuses on validating transactional mainframe systems built on COBOL, CICS, and DB2 technologies. The ideal candidate has strong manual testing expertise, experience working in complex enterprise environments, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.
This position operates within an Agile delivery model and supports major project initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into comprehensive, high-quality test plans.
- Execute manual test cases across complex mainframe-based transactional systems.
- Capture, document, and manage test results, defects, and evidence using JIRA and qTest.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business partners to validate functionality and resolve defects.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Ensure testing aligns with project goals, technical designs, and delivery timelines.
- Work independently while also contributing effectively within a cross-functional Agile team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience testing mainframe transactional systems utilizing:
- Solid understanding of Agile / SDLC methodologies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and execute detailed manual testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within large-scale, enterprise mainframe environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- QA or Testing certifications such as:
- 5+ years of functional testing experience within:
- Banking
- Financial Services
- Insurance domains
