Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Country Risk Consultant for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities :
The In-Business Risk Lead Analyst will support the Country Risk Limits and Country Franchise Review (CFR) teams. The role is primarily responsible for executing established processes and ensuring governance standards, process execution, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, and consistency across both programs.

Country Risk Limits are a key component of the firm's Country Risk Management Framework, supporting the monitoring and management of risk appetite across countries. The Country Franchise Review (CFR) process is an annual OCC regulatory requirement covering approximately 183 country reviews globally to ensure each country's risk appetite and limits remain aligned with its risk environment and business strategy.

Given the complexity, regulatory significance, and extensive coordination required across multiple stakeholders, continued support is needed to ensure timely execution of both processes, maintain appropriate governance standards, and support ongoing process enhancements. This position provides continuity, helps maintain capacity during a period of multiple employee leaves, and enables the team to meet both business and regulatory requirements.
  • Support execution of the Country Risk Limits and CFR processes.
  • Coordinate process activities and stakeholder engagement across multiple teams.
  • Prepare meeting materials, documentation, governance artifacts, and senior management reporting.
  • Ensure consistency, adherence to governance requirements, and regulatory compliance across both processes.
  • Support governance oversight of sovereign risk, country risk appetite, country limits, balance sheet risk, liquidity risk, public sector exposure management, and country franchise strategy.
  • Review and support approval processes for balance sheet and liquidity limits for sovereigns representing approximately 82% of the firm's Global Public Sector exposure.
  • Conduct country assessments, risk appetite reviews, governance reviews, strategic country considerations, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Monitor sovereign exposures, country limits, liquidity metrics, and risk reporting.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements and efficiency opportunities, including streamlining CFR reviews, standardizing review documentation, enhancing governance reporting, improving stakeholder coordination, and reducing manual processes.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • The role supports highly visible regulatory governance processes and regularly interacts with stakeholders ranging from Vice President through Managing Director level, including:
      • Country Officers
      • Country Risk Managers
      • Treasury
      • Finance
      • Compliance
      • Independent Risk representatives
  • The position is responsible for coordination, governance, and execution support rather than serving as the ultimate decision-maker.
Required Skills:
  • Preferably 4-5 years of relevant experience gained within:
    • Top-tier global financial institutions
    • Central banks (e.g., Fed, BoE, ECB)
    • Credit rating agencies
    • Multilateral institutions/development banks (e.g., IMF, World Bank, EBRD)
  • Understanding of country, sovereign, and public sector risk frameworks.
  • Experience supporting governance, risk management, regulatory, or control-related processes.
  • Strong business analysis, process management, and program coordination skills.
  • Experience with internal risk management platforms, governance tracking tools, workflow and approval systems, and reporting databases is beneficial.
  • Process automation and workflow tool experience preferred.
  • Business Process Management (BPM) platform experience is helpful but not required.
  • Data analysis and reporting automation capabilities are beneficial.
  • Microsoft Excel
    • Advanced proficiency required, including:
      • Pivot tables
      • Data analysis
      • Large dataset management
      • Reporting and tracking
      • Risk and governance metric analysis
      • Reconciliation activities
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Advanced proficiency required, including:
      • Executive-level presentations
      • Governance materials
      • Senior management reporting
  • Data visualization tools (SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI) are not required but related data analysis and reporting automation capabilities are preferred.
