About the RoleWe are seeking a
Systems Operations Engineer Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Platform Organization and support large-scale application operations. This role works closely with a growing SRE utility team and contributes to application reliability, automation, observability, and proactive issue prevention.
You'll operate at both the individual and team level-supporting production applications, influencing technical decisions, and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering and operations partners. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with clear communication and the ability to influence middle to senior leadership.
What You'll Do- Support and improve reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications.
- Consult on moderately complex Systems Operations Engineering initiatives and deliverables.
- Analyze operational challenges that require evaluation of multiple technical and business factors.
- Design and implement automation to reduce operational toil.
- Build and enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting strategies.
- Perform preventive troubleshooting and contribute to long-term architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with application teams, SREs, and Systems Operations stakeholders.
- Participate in on-call and extended support rotations (approximately every 4-5 weeks), including occasional evening or weekend coverage, while maintaining a 40-hour workweek.
Minimum Qualifications- 4+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, SRE, or Technology Architecture
(or equivalent experience gained through work, consulting, education, or military service) - 2+ years of experience with AutoSys
- Database engineering experience, preferably Oracle / PL-SQL
- Experience supporting applications in a financial services or banking environment
- Strong understanding of operational processes, risk management, and compliance requirements
- Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and speak confidently about prior experience
- Eligibility to convert to a full-time role if required
- Ability to work onsite in Charlotte, NC (hybrid model)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as:
- AppDynamics
- ThousandEyes
- Aternity
- Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Experience in application support within large, distributed environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and communicate with senior stakeholders
Team & Environment- Global team of ~18 engineers, including ~8 in the U.S.
- U.S. team based in Charlotte, NC and New Jersey (Charlotte only for this role)
- Collaborative environment with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement
Additional Information- This role is a backfill
