Key Responsibilities
• Move servers and switches to required destination for installation within the data center facility.
• Inspect servers and switches upon receipt to verify equipment is undamaged and ready for deployment.
• Perform smoke tests on servers to ensure hardware is functioning as intended prior to production deployment.
• Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and routed in accordance with established cabling standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with network administrators to verify all connections are cabled correctly and links are operational.
• Install additional components as needed, including NICs, drives, and memory modules.
• Assist in unboxing, inventory logging, and prepping servers and networking equipment for deployment.
• Perform audits of servers, consumables, and spare parts inventory to maintain accurate records.
Qualifications & Requirements
• 1-2 years of experience in data center operations or IT hardware support.
• Basic understanding of server and network switch hardware components.
• Experience with rack-and-stack operations, structured cabling, and cable management.
• Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and rack elevation drawings.
• Familiarity with basic hardware component installation (NIC cards, memory, storage drives).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures precisely.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with remote engineering teams.
• Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent.
