Controls Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test control systems and software for manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex controls-related issues on production equipment.
  • Implement and optimize PLC, HMI, and robotics programming for automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new equipment and processes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics and control narratives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for control systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in controls system design, programming, and implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens) and HMI development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Experience with robotics and vision systems integration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control systems.
