Controls Engineer | Byron Center, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements control systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with existing control systems and automation equipment.
  • Develops and maintains PLC programs, HMI screens, and robotic applications.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications.
  • Conducts system testing, validation, and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
  • Provides technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Implements and maintains industrial network infrastructure and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for control systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMIs.
  • Proficient in industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Experience with robotic systems and their integration into manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panel design, and safety circuits.
