Preface

This mandate centers on the domain of advanced Power Electronics and High-Density Energy Conversion within the maritime defense sector. We are seeking an individual who possesses an elite academic pedigree—ideally at the Master’s or Doctoral level—and demonstrates a first-principles mastery of electromagnetics and power distribution. The technical challenges inherent in this role require the ability to bridge theoretical circuit analysis with the physical realities of high-voltage systems operating in extreme, high-pressure environments. The successful candidate will apply sophisticated engineering rigor to the development of resilient energy architectures, ensuring the seamless integration of high-power acoustic arrays and electromechanical propulsion systems where failure is not an option.

The Mission

StaffRight Associates is spearheading a search for a Power Electronics Engineer to drive the architectural evolution of complex, underwater maritime platforms. The mission involves the end-to-end realization of high-availability power systems that sustain critical sensing and communication payloads in harsh operating theaters. This role demands a high level of technical synthesis to decouple systemic noise from high-output signal paths while optimizing energy density and thermal efficiency. You will be tasked with transforming abstract R&D requirements into ruggedized, high-power hardware capable of driving the next generation of unmanned maritime autonomy.

Core Technical Objectives

  • Synthesize robust power conversion architectures, ranging from 500W to 50kW, tailored for high-stakes maritime deployments.

  • Engineer high-efficiency DC/DC and AC/DC topologies (buck, boost, flyback, SEPIC) to meet rigorous energy density and reliability benchmarks.

  • Validate system resilience through exhaustive circuit simulation, thermal analysis, and worst-case scenario modeling.

  • Decouple electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure strict EMC compliance across multidisciplinary high-power interfaces.

  • Orchestrate the full lifecycle of PCB development, from complex schematic capture and component selection to the oversight of advanced fabrication and assembly.

  • Deploy sophisticated diagnostic protocols using high-precision laboratory instrumentation to troubleshoot and refine prototype R&D systems.

  • Formalize technical documentation and provide architectural mentorship to ensure the structural alignment of the engineering team’s output.

Candidate DNA

  • Architectural Philosophy: A practitioner who views power systems as a holistic ecosystem, balancing the nuances of MOSFET, SiC FET, and IGBT selection against the mechanical constraints of high-pressure vessels.

  • Technical Depth: Profound expertise in the design of energy storage components, high-power amplifiers, and custom magnetics.

  • Execution Mapping: Proven ability to translate complex data analysis (MATLAB) into actionable hardware improvements and firmware-integrated solutions (C/C++ or Python).

  • Operational Agility: Thrives in a high-energy R&D environment, possessing the communication clarity to brief stakeholders and the technical hands-on skill to perform forensic debugging in the field.

Academic & Research Pedigree

  • Educational Foundation: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a specialized concentration in Power Systems; an MSEE or Ph.D. is strongly preferred for this level of technical synthesis.

  • Domain Expertise: A significant track record (1–4+ years depending on degree level) in high-voltage design, specifically involving prototype development and the integration of electromechanical actuators.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Due to the nature of the systems involved, candidates must hold U.S. Citizenship and the capacity to obtain necessary security clearances.
