ServiceNow CMDB & Discovery / Service Mapping Consultant- Remote but need NY/NJ locals

We are seeking a ServiceNow CMDB & Discovery / Service Mapping Consultant to support CMDB data integrity, infrastructure discovery, and service dependency mapping. The consultant will be responsible for auditing and validating CMDB records, configuring ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping, and ensuring accurate relationships between infrastructure components, applications, and business services. This role will also support data center migration validation, maintain CMDB alignment with CSDM standards, and collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to map service dependencies and improve ITSM processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Audit and validate CMDB records for servers, storage, network devices, and applications.
• Configure and manage ServiceNow Discovery (MID Server, probes, sensors, patterns) to automatically identify IT assets and relationships.
• Develop and maintain Service Mapping to map application-to-infrastructure dependencies.
• Ensure CMDB data accuracy, completeness, and relationship integrity aligned with the CSDM framework.
• Map infrastructure and application dependencies and validate discovered data against existing CMDB records.
• Support post data center migration validation by ensuring configuration items reflect the new environment.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, and stakeholders to define service boundaries and relationships.
• Troubleshoot CMDB and service mapping issues including discovery failures, data gaps, and CI misalignments.
• Integrate service mapping insights with Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Working knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB architecture, CI classes, and relationships.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure components (servers, storage, network devices, applications).
• Familiarity with CSDM framework and ITIL configuration management concepts.
• Experience with dependency mapping, infrastructure topology, and hybrid environments (on-prem/cloud).
• Ability to perform CMDB audits, data validation, and governance activities.
• 1 2 years of experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, or Service Mapping.
