Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Burbank, CA
Role Description
The data engineer will build and refactor data pipelines to support enterprise data collection, transformation, and delivery.
The engineer is responsible for implementing and supporting infrastructure that enables data storage, processing, and retrieval within Snowflake.
The engineer will execute assigned migration tasks to convert existing Azure Data Factory pipelines into Snowflake Snowpark solutions.
The engineer must be proficient at joining and transforming data from multiple source systems to produce datasets used for reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and analytics consumption.
The engineer will work with management, architects, and team leads to understand clearly defined requirements and implementation instructions.
This role focuses on execution and delivery, identifying issues or risks and escalating them to leadership as needed.
The engineer must be able to manage assigned tasks and deliverables while aligning to project timelines and priorities set by leadership.
Use advanced tools and coding techniques to implement Snowflake Snowpark pipelines based on provided designs and standards.
Apply senior level data engineering skills to develop reliable, performant Snowflake based solutions that meet project requirements.
Must have strong hands on experience with Snowflake, including Snowpark and SQL based transformations.
Must have advanced experience working in Python for data engineering workloads.
Must have advanced SQL experience, including complex transformations and performance tuning.
Must have an understanding of data security requirements and follow established policies and standards for keeping data secure.
Contribute to the team's AI-driven engineering maturity by leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
Effectively use AI "vibe coding" tools (such as Cursor and Microsoft Copilot) to assist with code generation, refactoring, debugging, and documentation within established standards.
Apply sound engineering judgment when using AI tools, validating outputs and ensuring solutions meet security, performance, and data governance requirements.
Share AI usage patterns, efficiencies, and lessons learned with team members to support consistent and responsible adoption across the data engineering practice.
Skills & Requirements
3-5+ years of experience working within Data Engineering or Data Integration role
Senior level hands on experience writing complex scripts using Python and SQL
Experience working with Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines; must be able to understand logic to translate into Python logic
Experience working within Snowflake in a professional setting
Experience working within an Agile Scrum based team
Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, or similar) in data engineering or software development workflows.
Familiarity with applying AI tools to accelerate Python and SQL development while maintaining enterprise engineering standards.
Experience implementing Snowflake Snowpark pipelines
Familiarity with Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and warehouse configuration
Experience working within Azure and AWS environments
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data engineering
Experience working on project based data migration initiatives
Strong Python expertise with heavy hands-on coding; senior-leaning (P3 level).
Advanced SQL skills with a strong emphasis on complex queries.
Snowflake experience (3-5 years) - must be hands-on, not just coursework.
Proven experience migrating ETL solutions between cloud platforms, specifically moving pipelines from Azure to Snowflake.
Working knowledge of Azure Data Factory pipelines, with the ability to understand and replicate existing pipelines.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment (daily standups, two-week sprints).
Strong background working with REST APIs in Python.
Uses assistant tools (e.g., Cursor, Copilot) to support Python script development during migrations.
Solid overall coding background with a data engineering focus.
