Role OverviewOur client is seeking a
Network Implementation Specialist to support large-scale infrastructure deployments across a
highly segmented enterprise and Operational Technology (OT) environment.
This is a
hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for translating standardized network designs into real-world deployments across
substations, industrial sites, and distributed field locations. You will play a key role in
implementing, integrating, and stabilizing mission-critical network infrastructure.
This is
not a design-heavy engineering position-the focus is on
deployment, field execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting in both
greenfield (new builds) and
brownfield (existing environments).
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Deployment & Implementation- Execute predefined network designs across field and facility environments
- Install, configure, and validate network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Translate logical network diagrams into physical installations
- Support network turn-up, system testing, and commissioning activities
Project Execution & Field Support- Participate in site walk-downs, field validation, and construction coordination
- Review construction prints and network designs to ensure alignment with installation
- Support contractors, vendors, and installation teams during deployments
- Assist with site readiness, device placement, and connectivity validation
- Follow standardized deployment templates and processes
Configuration & Integration- Apply standardized configuration templates to network devices
- Determine device requirements, port assignments, and configurations
- Integrate new infrastructure into existing (brownfield) environments
- Validate connectivity across LAN, WAN, and field communication networks
Troubleshooting & Commissioning- Troubleshoot deployment-related issues, including:
- Configuration errors
- Hardware installation issues
- Telecom and circuit connectivity problems
- Perform network testing and validation to ensure operational readiness
- Support issue resolution during commissioning and site acceptance
Documentation & Quality Assurance- Maintain accurate deployment documentation, configuration records, and site details
- Ensure installations meet quality standards, compliance, and security requirements
- Provide feedback to engineering teams to improve templates and processes
Required Skills- Strong networking fundamentals:
- TCP/IP, subnetting, routing & switching
- VLANs, DNS, DHCP
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cisco routers, switches, and network infrastructure
- LAN/WAN environments
- Proven troubleshooting experience in network deployments
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, designs, and construction prints
Preferred Experience- Background in Operational Technology (OT) environments
- Experience in utilities, energy, telecom, manufacturing, or industrial networks
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and field communications
- Experience with:
- Fiber infrastructure and telecom circuits
- Distributed network environments
- Exposure to vendors such as Cisco, Nokia, or similar
Deployment-Focused Qualifications- Experience executing network deployments (vs. designing architectures)
- Ability to work in both greenfield and brownfield environments
- Strong understanding of real-world constraints (latency, uptime, rugged environments)
- Familiarity with template-driven deployment models
Environment- Highly segmented enterprise and OT network architecture
- Distributed infrastructure across:
- Substations
- Industrial facilities
- Field locations
- Standardized designs with variability based on real-world site conditions
Travel & Work Conditions- Primarily remote or office-based with project-based travel
- Travel required for:
- Site walk-downs
- Deployment and commissioning activities
- Work may occur in substations and industrial environments
- All travel expenses reimbursed

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Waukesha, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
