Job Summary

We are seeking a Transmission Line Principal Engineer to lead the design management of high-voltage transmission line projects supporting wind, solar, and battery energy storage facilities, as well as standalone transmission infrastructure projects.

This role is responsible for overseeing engineering consultants, managing technical deliverables, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring transmission projects progress successfully from early-stage development through construction and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in transmission line engineering, design oversight, project coordination, and utility infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design and engineering oversight of transmission line projects from concept through commissioning
  • Coordinate external engineering consultants responsible for detailed transmission line design
  • Develop scopes of work, solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and support consultant selection
  • Coordinate routing, permitting, geotechnical, lidar, survey, and engineering activities
  • Support project teams with engineering data required for project development and construction
  • Review engineering deliverables including:
    • Issued for Bid (IFB)
    • Issued for Procurement (IFP)
    • Issued for Construction (IFC)
    • As-built drawings
  • Ensure design quality, constructability, and cost optimization
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, supply chain, and permitting teams
  • Identify project risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Present project progress, technical issues, and recommendations to leadership
  • Support proposal development for competitive transmission projects
  • Travel within North America as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years of direct experience in:
    • High Voltage Transmission Line Engineering
    • Transmission Design
    • Utility Infrastructure Projects
  • Strong understanding of:
    • One-line diagrams
    • Three-line diagrams
    • Plan and profile drawings
    • General arrangements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience managing engineering consultants
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Engineering or Project Management experience
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience with:
    • Renewable energy interconnection projects
    • Utility-scale solar projects
    • Wind projects
    • Battery storage projects
  • Proficiency with:
    • PLSCADD
    • AutoCAD
    • Primavera
    • Microsoft Office Suite
