Location: Remote (Candidates must be located near Juno Beach, FL)

Job Type: Long Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Project Management Consultant to support utility-scale renewable energy storage projects from design through execution. This role will focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS), engineering coordination, technical analysis, and cross-functional project support to maximize project performance and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy, utility-scale storage systems, and engineering project management, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and engineering of utility-scale energy storage projects
  • Review engineering drawings and identify design inconsistencies or technical issues
  • Develop technical scopes of work for vendors and contractors
  • Coordinate with project managers to support projects from development through completion
  • Monitor project milestones and identify technical risks proactively
  • Collaborate with suppliers on integration of major electrical equipment
  • Analyze project data and perform technical due diligence
  • Support equipment selection for battery storage systems and power conversion systems
  • Assist with construction support, commissioning, and logistics planning
  • Ensure compliance with permitting and regulatory requirements
  • Work with internal teams to optimize system performance and reliability
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve design quality and project efficiency
  • Travel up to 25% as needed for project support

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in renewable energy or utility-scale power projects
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Power electronics
    • Battery storage design
    • Substation design
    • Electrical systems integration
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
  • Strong project coordination and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Lithium-ion battery systems
    • Power conversion systems
    • DC-DC converters
    • Interconnection studies
    • Construction permitting
    • Utility-scale project execution
  • Familiarity with:
    • UL1973
    • UL9540
    • UL9540A
    • NFPA 855
    • NFPA 70E
    • NEC standards
  • Experience with CAISO / WECC interconnection processes
  • Construction methods knowledge including:
    • Foundations
    • Trenching
    • Electrical testing
    • Safety standards
