Job Description
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in plant sampling, DNA extraction, high-throughput PCR, and laboratory inventory management and a proven ability to support laboratory, greenhouse, and field research by executing standardized protocols with accurate documentation.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This role is 100% site-based with occasional driving required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist technical personnel with general laboratory operations and routine research tasks under supervisor guidance.
- Perform plant sampling, DNA extraction, and high-throughput PCR using accepted methods and training.
- Manage laboratory inventory and sample tracking to maintain accurate records.
- Support work across laboratory, greenhouse, and field settings, including occasional local driving.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- BS in Science (Chemistry, Biology, or related field) strongly preferred. Candidates working toward a BS with prior lab experience will be considered.
- Hands-on experience with DNA extraction and PCR.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Excel.
- 1+ years of relevant experience in a research laboratory environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in greenhouse and field research settings.
- Familiarity with sample inventory systems and standard operating procedures.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety standards and site policies.
- Use prescribed safety procedures and appropriate PPE.
Additional Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication with effective documentation of results.
- Good organization with the ability to follow SOPs and meet timelines.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
