Job Description
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team supporting Crop Transformation Systems within Biotechnology/Trait Discovery & Optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in plant science or related biological disciplines, general lab operations, and experimental documentation and a proven ability to execute genome editing and transformation experiments, maintain accurate records, and contribute to process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Execute crop transformation and genome editing experiments following established protocols.
- Accurately document experimental data and procedures in database system(s) and prepare summaries and reports.
- Participate in technology development and process improvement studies, including hypothesis testing, observations, data collection, and analysis.
- Support team operations such as explant preparation, media assessment, culture room maintenance, equipment custodianship, and information management.
- Follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure a safe laboratory environment.
- Collaborate with Technology Leaders, Research Scientists, and Senior Research Associates while functioning independently as assigned.
- Present results within the company and at external meetings as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in plant science, biological science, genetics, horticulture, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of general laboratory operations, adherence to protocols, and independent experiment execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with experience in databases and/or Laboratory Information Management Systems preferred.
- Strong record keeping with the ability to maintain complete, accurate, and timely experimental documentation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
- Commitment to laboratory safety and equipment custodianship.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with plant tissue culture and transformation.
- Experience with genome engineering workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
