Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced QA Automation Engineer / SDET with 12+ years of expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will work closely with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality, reliable, and performant software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead test automation strategy across UI, API, and backend layers

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks from scratch

• Automate test cases using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or REST-Assured

• Perform API testing using Postman, REST-Assured, or similar tools

• Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab)

• Implement BDD/TDD approaches using Cucumber, SpecFlow, or similar tools

• Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for testability

• Perform code reviews for automation scripts and test utilities

• Collaborate with developers to enable shift-left testing

• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level QA engineers

• Drive test coverage, defect prevention, and quality metrics

• Participate in performance, regression, and smoke testing activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong programming experience in Java / Python / C# / JavaScript

• Hands-on expertise with UI automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)

• Strong API automation & validation experience

• Experience with TestNG, JUnit, NUnit, PyTest

• Knowledge of BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow)

• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git, Maven/Gradle, Docker

• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

• Database testing using SQL / NoSQL databases

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Experience leading QA efforts in Agile/Scrum environments

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

• Ability to define QA best practices and quality standards

• Experience working with cross-functional global teams

Nice to Have

• Performance testing using JMeter, Gatling, or LoadRunner

• Security testing knowledge (OWASP basics)

• Experience with mobile automation (Appium)

• Experience in DevOps or SRE collaboration

• Domain experience in Banking, Payments, Healthcare, or E-commerce
