Okta Certified Administrator

This engagement provides operational continuity for critical identity and access management services, reduces key-person dependency risk, maintains application onboarding activities, and supports knowledge transfer while internal staff are trained to assume long-term responsibilities.
Position Summary
Client seeks an Okta Certified Administrator to serve as the dedicated operational expert for the clients Okta Identity platform and Unified Login Services environment. The position combines hands-on technical administration with operational leadership while supporting the continued growth and maturity of the IAM program.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the subject matter expert for Okta Identity Cloud within the IAM program.
Serve as the primary administrator for Okta tenant configuration, policy management, and operational support.
Configure and manage Okta applications, authentication policies, MFA policies, groups, workflows, and lifecycle management processes.
Lead onboarding efforts for applications integrating with Okta using SAML, OIDC, LDAP, SCIM, and API-based integrations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex authentication, provisioning, federation, and lifecycle management issues.
Collaborate with SailPoint, Active Directory, Entra ID, Google Workspace, HR systems, SIS systems, and connected enterprise platforms.
Train and mentor IAM staff while developing operational documentation and standards.
Deliverables
Day-to-day administration and operational support of the Okta platform.
Configuration and maintenance of authentication, MFA, lifecycle management, and access policies.
Application onboarding and integration using SAML, OIDC, LDAP, SCIM, APIs, and related technologies.
Resolution of authentication, federation, provisioning, and identity lifecycle issues.
Development of operational documentation, runbooks, standards, and troubleshooting guides.
Knowledge-transfer sessions and mentoring for IAM team members.
Operational status updates and service improvement recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Okta Certified Administrator certification (or equivalent).
Minimum 3 years of experience administering Okta in a medium-to-large enterprise environment.
Demonstrated experience independently administering and supporting an enterprise Okta environment with minimal supervision.
Experience implementing and supporting enterprise authentication and single sign-on solutions.
Proven success managing application onboarding, federation troubleshooting, authentication policy management, and identity integrations.
Expertise with Okta Universal Directory, Adaptive MFA, Lifecycle Management, and Single Sign-On.
Experience implementing SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), LDAP, and SCIM integrations.
Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management, RBAC, governance, and access controls.
Experience working directly with application owners and business stakeholders to onboard and support integrated applications.
Experience working with REST APIs, scripting, and automation tools.
