We’re searching for a Lead Business Analyst with deep experience in the health?insurance industry, ideally within a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) environment. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of business operations, requirements strategy, and technology—especially in highly regulated, member?focused healthcare settings.
As the Lead Business Analyst, you’ll act as a strategic partner to the business, helping define solutions that improve member experiences, streamline internal operations, and ensure compliance. You’ll guide business stakeholders and technical teams through complex initiatives, lead requirements development, and mentor analysts across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Requirements Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with business leaders to understand goals, issues, and operational needs across health?insurance functions such as claims, enrollment, benefits, provider data, and authorizations.
- Lead the creation, analysis, and documentation of business, functional, and non?functional requirements.
- Facilitate discovery workshops, requirements walkthroughs, and collaborative design sessions.
- Provide mentoring and direction to junior and mid?level analysts.
- Ensure all requirements align with BCBS industry standards, compliance needs, and organizational priorities.
User Acceptance Testing Leadership
- Oversee all UAT planning and execution, ensuring solutions work effectively for operational users.
- Develop test plans, scenarios, and documentation to validate system changes.
- Identify defects, gaps, or deviations and drive resolution with technical and business teams.
- Communicate changes and updates to stakeholders and train end users when necessary.
Issue Resolution & Operational Support
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues across systems, data, and processes.
- Work with cross?functional partners to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and help optimize health?insurance workflows.
Documentation & Deliverables
- Create clear, well?structured documentation for systems, business processes, and project deliverables.
- Produce high?quality artifacts that support development, testing, and implementation.
Project & Risk Management
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and support mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate assigned initiatives from initial concept through delivery.
- Manage and prioritize new requests based on business needs and capacity.
Policy & Business Expertise
- Serve as a resource for health?insurance policies, operational procedures, and regulatory impacts.
- Conduct research and provide guidance to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in health insurance, ideally with BCBS plans, systems, workflows, or regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with claims processing, enrollment & eligibility, provider networks, benefit configuration, or utilization management.
- AI product or automation experience is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in business analysis, systems analysis, testing, or similar analytical functions.
- In lieu of a degree: 4 additional years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (MBA).
- Experience delivering large-scale, high?complexity initiatives.
- Strong background coaching and mentoring other analysts.
- Expert-level understanding of business analysis frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, BABOK).
