Senior Java Backend Engineer – Microservices & Integrations
Location: California
We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to support enterprise SCMS platforms focused on APIs, integrations, pricing/payment workflows, and operational tooling. The role involves hands-on backend development, production support, integration engineering, and modernization initiatives across distributed systems environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and APIs
• Build and support microservices, event-driven workflows, and enterprise integrations
• Troubleshoot production issues, support release activities, and improve platform stability
• Work closely with onsite leads, product teams, and business stakeholders on feature delivery and support
• Develop operational tooling, monitoring enhancements, and automation solutions
• Support integration testing, defect resolution, and release validation activities
• Participate in CI/CD implementation, code reviews, and engineering best practices
• Improve system observability, documentation, and support readiness across enterprise services
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools for code generation, ticket analysis, debugging, and documentation workflows
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years of software engineering experience in Java backend development
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, and SQL
• Experience with distributed systems, integrations, and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with Kafka or messaging systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or automation-driven engineering workflows preferred
• Good communication skills and ability to work in distributed teams
Preferred Skills:
• AWS/Azure cloud exposure
• Experience with pricing, payments, retail, or supply-chain platforms
• Observability/monitoring tools exposure
• Automation and operational support experience
