Java Engineering Lead – Enterprise Platforms
Location: Rocklin, CA (Onsite)
We are seeking an experienced Java Engineering Lead to drive architecture, delivery, and modernization initiatives across enterprise-scale SCMS platforms supporting payments, pricing, integrations, and distributed business workflows. This role will lead engineering strategy, platform reliability, and modernization efforts across high-volume microservices ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead architecture, design, and delivery for enterprise Java microservices platforms
• Drive development of scalable APIs, event-driven workflows, and distributed system integrations
• Own platform reliability, observability, production engineering, and release readiness
• Partner with Product, Business, Operations, and cross-functional engineering teams to prioritize roadmap initiatives
• Lead modernization efforts across cloud-native services, CI/CD pipelines, and operational tooling
• Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, and establish engineering best practices
• Drive root-cause analysis, incident management, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction
• Collaborate with offshore engineering teams and support transition from contractor-led delivery to internal engineering ownership
• Establish AI-assisted engineering workflows for code reviews, release readiness, documentation, and operational support
Required Qualifications:
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong Java backend development expertise
• Lead/Architect/Manager-level responsibilities
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Kafka/Event-Driven Architecture
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of SQL, system integrations, observability, and production support
• Experience in enterprise platforms involving payments, pricing, supply chain, or transactional systems
• Exposure to AI-assisted SDLC, automation tooling, or agentic engineering workflows is preferred
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills:
• AWS or Azure cloud experience
• Observability tools like Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus
• Experience supporting high-transaction enterprise systems
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering workflows and automation practices
