Role Overview
This is a senior business relationship management role serving as the bridge between technology and business leaders for People Solutions (employee benefits) and Shared Services/Enterprise Systems (HR, Finance, Marketing, Legal). The position focuses on partnering with business leaders on technology roadmaps, shaping business cases, and acting as the voice of the business within IT. This role involves providing light people leadership oversight and requires a candidate with high emotional intelligence, influence skills, and a stable work history.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders on technology roadmaps and key decisions.
- Shape business cases and manage intake into the IT delivery process.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Provide light people leadership and oversight to team members like BAs and product owners.
- Champion the technology needs of business units within the IT and Digital organizations.
- Lead discovery efforts by guiding personnel through collaborative solutioning processes.
- Shepherd technology initiatives on behalf of business organizations and support the project management function.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and external vendors.
Work Model
A hybrid work model is required for this role, with in-office attendance from Tuesday to Thursday in the Overland Park, Kansas area. Full commitment to this hybrid schedule is expected.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 4+ years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated stability in work history; frequent job-hopping is a disqualifier.
- Experience leading or managing small groups of contributing team members.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership.
- Experience with agile, product, or value-stream delivery models.
Skills & Competencies:- Strong technical fluency and systems thinking, though this is not a hands-on development role.
- High emotional intelligence and influence skills.
- Must be a self-starter and driver, able to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong discovery, critical thinking, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Technical Skills:- Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, and CoPilot.
- Experience with project and collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Azure DevOps (ADO), Webex, and Miro.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Insurance or Employee Benefits experience.
- An AI-forward thinking mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position. The contract rate is targeted at $60-$85 per hour. The target conversion salary is approximately $130,000-$150,000, with a potential bonus based on business performance post-conversion.
