Our manufacturing client is hiring a Data Lake Consultant to reconcile Data Lake data back to Oracle EBS, validating completeness and accuracy of financial and transactional datasets, identifying and cleansing inaccurate or incomplete data, documenting discrepancies, and supporting data integrity improvements during the Databricks lift-and-shift upgrade.
This is a hands-on role requiring a strong blend of accounting knowledge, analytical skill, and technical capability.
Project Scope
Reconciliation
- Reconcile data within the company''s Data Lake back to corresponding records in Oracle EBS, ensuring completeness and accuracy across financial data sets
- Build on the existing reconciliation framework already established for sales data and apply it to remaining data areas
- Identify, investigate, and document discrepancies between the Data Lake and Oracle EBS
- Work collaboratively with the existing consultant and internal Finance and IT teams to resolve reconciling items and document findings
Data Cleansing
- Identify inaccurate, incomplete, or duplicate records within the Data Lake surfaced through the reconciliation process
- Correct or flag problematic data in accordance with agreed-upon data quality standards
- Document all changes made and the rationale behind them to maintain a clear audit trail
- Provide recommendations for preventing recurrence of data quality issues
Documentation & Handoff
- Maintain thorough documentation of reconciliation results, data issues found, and resolutions applied
- Deliver a final summary of work completed, outstanding items, and recommendations for ongoing data governance
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting — ability to understand what the data represents and how it should reconcile
- Proven experience working with ERP systems, with direct experience in Oracle EBS strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience working with Data Lakes and large structured data sets
- Proficiency in Databricks for data exploration and analysis
- Strong SQL skills for querying, comparing, and validating data sets
- Advanced Excel capability, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and reconciliation workbooks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an existing consultant and internal teams
- Clear written and verbal communication skills — able to document findings and communicate issues to both Finance and technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python for data analysis or automation
- Familiarity with Tableau or Sigma for validation reporting and dashboards
- Background in data quality, data governance, or financial systems reconciliation projects
- Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, or promotional products industries
Success Criteria
- Data Lake records are fully reconciled to Oracle EBS with all variances documented and resolved
- Inaccurate or incomplete records are identified, cleansed, and documented
- Finance team has confidence in the Data Lake as an accurate and reliable reporting source
