Role Summary

The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of network professionals and overseeing the performance, reliability, and security of enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites. This role emphasizes leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the network environment effectively supports institutional priorities. The position is primarily managerial, with a focus on guiding teams, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Establish and enforce standards, policies, and best practices for network operations and systems administration
  • Manage multiple large-scale, concurrent projects, including planning, execution, and progress reporting
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to align network initiatives with business and academic needs
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals to ensure optimal service delivery and cost efficiency
  • Ensure accurate documentation, inventory management, and operational reporting for network systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Act as a primary point of contact for network-related services, escalations, and strategic initiatives
  • Promote strong communication and collaboration between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits
  • $135,000 - $150,000 annually

Additional Details
  • Location: Hybrid onsite near Woodland Hills with some local travel
  • Leadership-focused role with limited day-to-day hands-on engineering responsibilities

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams, including direct supervision of network engineers
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Strong expertise in network infrastructure technologies, including routing, switching, VPNs, wireless, and VoIP systems
  • Experience supporting large-scale environments with 1,000+ users and distributed networks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex, concurrent projects
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues and leading resolution across teams and vendors

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Experience in higher education or similarly complex, multi-site organizations
  • Advanced networking certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE)
  • Experience with enterprise network monitoring tools and IT service management platforms
  • Deep familiarity with Cisco networking and wireless technologies
  • Experience leading large-scale infrastructure modernization or transformation initiatives
