Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager Substation to oversee field execution, QA/QC, and coordination activities for substation construction projects. This role requires strong expertise in electrical and civil construction, along with the ability to manage EPC coordination, safety compliance, and commissioning support.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in substation construction environments and a strong understanding of engineering drawings, construction processes, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce and prioritize job site safety in compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Coordinate with engineers, EPC contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Perform QA/QC inspections, audits, and maintain quality documentation
  • Monitor construction progress, track activities, and maintain detailed project records
  • Interpret electrical schematics, civil, mechanical, and structural drawings
  • Identify and resolve construction issues to keep projects on schedule
  • Manage and lead construction teams, including task monitoring and conflict resolution
  • Oversee material procurement and material take-offs
  • Handle RFIs and change orders in coordination with EPC teams
  • Support commissioning and energization activities

Additional Responsibilities

  • Review completed projects and document lessons learned and improvements
  • Ensure safe work practices around high-voltage energized equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant job site
  • Promote effective communication across teams and stakeholders
  • Support turnover and commissioning processes

Required Qualifications

  • 6 10 years of experience in substation construction management
  • Strong experience in QA/QC, EPC coordination, and field execution
  • Knowledge of electrical, civil, and structural construction practices
  • Experience with concrete foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and containment pits
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and hazard mitigation
  • Proven leadership and team management skills

Technical Skills

  • MS Office (Excel, Word) and MS Project
  • Construction documentation and reporting tools
  • QA/QC processes and audit documentation

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting substation commissioning and energization
  • Familiarity with utility-scale substation projects
  • Experience working with EPC contractors
